Enneagram

The Enneagram symbol is a circle with nine points connected in a distinctive pattern of intersecting lines. It is an ancient symbol that describes a path of self-development. Within each Type are healthy, average, and unhealthy patterns, and no one Type is better than any other.

An easy way to begin a personal exploration of the Enneagram is to take a short, inexpensive questionnaire.

Since 1990 Belinda has been a dedicated student of the Enneagram, trained and certified by Don Riso and Russ Hudson. In 2000 she established The Enneagram Institute of Central Ohio as part of their network. Belinda was a board member of the International Enneagram Association and has been awarded the IEA’s Accredited Professional with Distinction. She has trained professional coaches, therapists and other growth-oriented practitioners to integrate the power of the Enneagram into their practices. Her work currently focuses on integrating the Enneagram and Object Relations.

OBJECT RELATIONS AND THE ENNEAGRAM – PART ONE

WHY do Enneagram types patterns show up behaviorally in the ways they do?

One answer is grounded in Object Relations theory, focusing on the development of the personality in early childhood. The theory is based on key relationships and how those interactions structure a sense of self and our worldview.Don Riso and Russ Hudson had become students of the Diamond Approach when they developed the foundational teaching of Object Relations and the Enneagram.I realized the importance of Object Relations after I became a Diamond Approach student with Sandra Maitri and started looking at my own patterns. My personal work motivated me to do a deeper dive into Primary Objects and Dominant Affects and the interactive 3 x 3 matrix that forms an explanation for the Enneagram types.

Join me for PowerPoint slides, discussion and experiential exercises to explore this fascinating theory about type structure and how to compassionately engage Object Relations patterns while learning to unhook from them.

OBJECT RELATIONS AND THE ENNEAGRAM – PART TWO

Part Two is a seven-week advanced offering an opportunity to extend your learning to include practical exercises for using the theory of Object Relations and the Enneagram to deepen and liberate relationships.

Following are the key topics:

  • Understanding the characteristic emotional strategies of the nine Enneagram types, known as Passions, in terms of Object Relations patterns.
  • Discovering the intelligence behind the instincts and passions of each type, based on Object Relations patterns, to embody healthy autonomy.
  • How to recognize when a pattern is activated.
  • Learning to hold the tension of the pattern – learning to ALLOW the activation without acting on it.
  • Working with disorientation that may occur when deeply embedded patterns diminish to create new ways to respond to others and find greater joy in relationships.

Approved for 10.5 ICF CCE Units.
